Abstract
We report the usefulness of ultrasound-guided thrombin injection (UGTI) in the treatment of a ruptured axillary artery pseudoaneurysm. The patient was an 83-year-old woman who had a humeral bone fracture 2 months ago. Her right shoulder developed swelling. The axillary artery pseudoaneurysm was diagnosed by ultrasonography and computed tomography angiography. Subsequently, UGTI was performed. The aneurysm was successfully occluded by the injection of 2,000 U of the thrombin into the aneurysm sac. However, the aneurysm recurred thrice, and UGTI was performed each time. Finally, the aneurysm disappeared completely, and has not recurred even after 3 years.
