Abstract

We analyzed short- and long-term variations in water temperature and salinity in the southern Osaka Bay using stationary observation data collected over 32 years from 1992 to 2023. Seasonal variations, long-term trends, and relationships with meteorological factors were examined. The results indicate a significant rise in spring water temperature, with the period exceeding 15 ℃ lengthening yearly. However, no notable trends were observed in annual minimum and maximum water temperatures or their occurrence dates. Additionally, short-term variations in water temperature and salinity were strongly affected by meteorological factors, such as precipitation, and the inflow of offshore water through the Kitan Strait. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of environmental changes in Osaka Bay and have implications for fisheries resource management and aquaculture.
