Abstract
As FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics),which are mainly used for the bath units and pleasure boats, are very difficult to be recycled, most of them are landfilled. The horizontal recycling technology based on the hydrolysis of FRP using sub-critical water has been developed. It is noted that glycol monomer, styrene fumaric-acid copolymer(SFC),and inorganic materials are recovered by the hydrolysis of thermo-setting polyester resin that composes FRP. For the practical use of the hydrolysis of FRP, pilot scale plant test(400kg/batch) has been planned. The FRP bathroom manufacturing process edge material of its production plant will be used as the raw material of the pilot. In this paper, the relationship between the process parameter such as temperature, reaction time and FRP pulverization diameter and production yield of sub-critical water hydrolysis which is necessary for the determination of process flow diagram and the equipment specification regarding to the pilot plant design is described.
