Development of Studies on Unit Pricing Program for Municipal Solid Waste

Abstract

This paper reviewed author's researches on unit pricing program for municipal solid waste, especially on the topics of waste reduction and its sustainablitiy, illegal dumping and its countermeasures, and historical trace and future development of burden of payment for waste management. It also indicated issues for further researches. Author's past study revealed that waste reduction achieved by unit pricing program was sustained over an average of at least 10 years. Author also studied countermeasures against illegal dumping, but still left many issues. As for the burden sharing of municipal waste management, author indicated that historical study of the waste management system was neccesary today because it had to be changed for establishing sound material-cycle society.
