Abstract
Leaching characteristics of hydrophilic compounds in plastic products were investigated by pH dependent test, in addition to content test and serial batch leaching test that were examined in last year. And the effects of ionic strength on the leaching behavior were also investigated. Since 1,4-dioxane is nonelectrolytic, the leaching amount from a PVC sheet with antistatic additives was not affected by pH. On the other hand, the leaching amount of bisphenol A(BPA) was affected by pH and increased in alkaline conditions, because BPA is weak acidic compound. The influence of ionic strength was the same as that of BPA, and the amount of 1,4-dioxane leached increased with the ionic strength for a few substances containing ions, but decreased after that.
