Waste arisings data were made available at the school district level in Fukuoka city. Using this data, it is possible to cross-analyse waste arisings and the effect of the variable charging scheme with area-specific socio-economic variables. In terms of waste arisings, it was shown that areas with smaller number of persons per household and those with higher number of business premises per population had a higher arising. As these two characteristics occur simultaneously in the same area, it was not possible to identify which one is more relevant. In terms of the effect of variable charging, it proved difficult to explain the big variance with the factors prepared this time. It remains desired to figure out under what circumstances this scheme is effective.
