The estimation and characteristics of PCDDs/DFs emission from the waste incinerators in Korea

Abstract

This study was estimated the emission characteristics and emission factors (EF) of the discharged PCDDs/DFs by flue gas from the waste incinerators in Korea. PCDDs/DFs concentration from selected incinerators (n=173) was 0.0 ∼ 204 ng/Sm³ (avg. 15 ng/Sm³) in large size incinerators (n=80) and 0.2 ∼ 319 ng/Sm³ (avg. 18 ng/Sm³) in medium size incinerators (n=93). And the distribution ratio of PCDDs and PCDFs was about 70 to 30. PCDDs/DFs concentration according to waste was 0 ∼ 10 ng/Sm³ (avg. 3 ng/Sm³) in MSW incinerators (n=26), 3 ∼ 319 ng/Sm³ (avg. 84 ng/Sm³) in hospital waste incinerators and 0 ∼ 204 ng/Sm³ (avg. 17 ng/Sm³) in industrial waste incinerators.
