About the Hemicelluloses in the Radial Direction of Wood Fiber

Abstract

After we nitrated the wood fiber with the nitrating agent (its composition is as follows : HNO₃ : (CH₃CO) ₂0 : CCl₄=1 : 1 : 5), we peeled off the nitrated part of it with acetone, and studied on the component sugars in the residue by paperchromatography.
Consequently, we found that Xylan and Mannan are distributed widely from outside to inside of thewood fiber.
