Abstract
The chemical effect produced by sulphite cooking and washing in the resin component of the oleoresin of the akamatsu and of its sap-and heartwood was assessed by examining the composition of the pitch from the wood so treated : oleoresin from the akamatsu and the resin extracted from the sapand heartwood of a 30-70-year-old akamatsu were cooked in sulfurous acid to be compared in their composition with what each before it was cooked.
