Abstract

In these studies, the influences on properties of pulp and paper sheet by the difference of the kinds of materials of the heater bars were investigated in the experimental and mill tests
The bursting and tensile strength against freeness of pulp beaten with the lava stone bars had the same tendencies in both tests.
The strength values were lower than them of paper sheet made of pulp beaten with the metal bars. These strength properties might be due to the bonding strength of the sheet.
But the softness and tearing strength of the paper due to flexibility or the average length of fibers were larger than them of paper sheet made of pulp beaten with the metal bars.
Really, in the results of experimental test, the tearing strength did not necessarily agree with it in the mill test.
For it might result in the low consistency of pulp in the experimental test.
The results above mentioned showed that the beating with lava stone bars might approach to the wet beating even if the consistency of pulp suspension would belong to the free beating.
