Abstract
Activated sludge process has already been devoted to remove biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) in many pulping waste. In this report, activated sludge process was described about mainly alkaline-extraction waste in sulphate pulp process.
BOD loading is able to increase to 0.8 (kg-BOD/kg-MLSS. day). In this case, SVI value is about 50 to 80, and BOD removed percent is about 90. But COD removed percent is about 30, and so the color of effluent is not largely different from influent.
