Abstract

An attachment to the standard laboratory sheet machine which enables easy and quick formation of multi-layered handsheet was designed and constructed in our laboratory. The divice named JPRI Multi-head consists of an acrylic cylinder with 4 perforated plates. It should be fixed on top of handsheet machine cylinder.
Multi-head attachment enables easy control of number of layers and basis weight of each layer. Multi-layered papers made by using this device give good formation and strong plybonding. Multi-head is useful for simulating and predicting some properties of machine made multi-layered papers using a single headbox of multi-layer capability.
