CHEMREC^TM Kraft Recovery Booster

Abstract

Götaverken Energy AB in Sweden had developed the new black liquor recovery system, CHEMREC^TM, which is based on black liquor gasification.
The first commercial CHEMRE^TM kraft recovery booster plant, capacity 34 t·DS/h at Frövifors Bruk in Sweden was successfully started up in May 1991 and the continuous operation was initiated in August the same year.
CHEMREC^TM booster is one of the applications of the system and gives incremental recovery capacity expansion in mills where recovery boilers are undersized.
In the paper, the development history of CHEMREC^TM, the operating results at Frövifors are summarized and the new standard CHEMREC^TM booster plant is introduced.
