Abstract
The relation between some knitting factors and the optically measured fabric irregularity was investigated, and quantitative evaluation of evenness was proposed.
Light fluctuation ratio P of a knit fabric is given as P=k1 logS+k2F where S is the number of stitches in a scanning beam, F the light absorption, and k1, k2 constants.
From the above equation, αs and αF can be obtained experimentally as indexes of fabric-evenness. As the values of these two indexes are almost coincident, we can evaluate fabric-venness by αt that is a mean of these two indexes.
Fabric-evenness index αt obtained optically is in good agreement with the degree offabric-evenness obtained by visual judgement. Therefore, we confirm that this evaluation method is resonable.
