Abstract
This study analyzes the use of “kudasai” and “itadakimasu,” which are used in crowdsourcing documents to provide details to the reader about the work. First, “itadakimasu” can be considered to provide a good impression to the reader. Second, although application rates were low when “kudasai” was placed after a verb of Japanese origin, they increased when it was placed after a verb of Chinese origin. Furthermore, by analyzing the verbs frequently used together with “kudasai” or “itadakimasu,” the former was found to have high application rates when used with verbs either representing the process of ordering or reducing the burden on an order’s recipient. This suggests that expressions containing “kudasai” make a positive impression when used in a context benefiting the order recipient. Conversely, even the application rates related to “itadakimasu” when used with verbs that limited the actions of the order recipient. This helped determine that, although “kudasai” makes an unfavorable impression while “itadakimasu” makes a good impression in many cases, the impression is affected by whether the preceding verb benefits the order recipient.
