Abstract
The tensile and fatigue tests of the free-standing cold sprayed SUS316 coating (CS316 coating) were carried out in this study. The effects of the post spray heat treatment (PSHT) on the mechanical properties were investigated. The ductility, elastic modulus, and tensile strength was strongly improved by the PSHT, in addition, 0.2% proof stress and the fatigue strength of CS316 coating were almost comparable to those of the bulk SUS316 steel. The as-sprayed CS316 coating exhibited anisotropic mechanical properties, however, they became isotropy after the PSHT. The cross sectional SEM observations of CS316 coating were carried out. It was revealed that there are a lot of pores and narrow inter-splat pores in CS316 coating before the PSHT, on the other hand, the narrow inter-splat pores diminished during the PSHT. It can be considered from these results that the mechanical properties of CS316 coating are correlated with the pore structure.
