Abstract
A six-year-old male intact Pomeranian showed swelling of the right perineal area. Based on the ultrasound examination, the case was tentatively diagnosed as a perineal hernia with large amount of fluid content. After the routine surgical approach to perineal hernia, large cyst was found as a hernia content, and after the incision of the cyst wall, abundant fluid was drawn. Since the surgical specimen from the cyst wall was characterized by connective tissue growth with fibrosis and mineralization histopathologically, the cyst was diagnosed as a paraprostatic cyst. It is rare that the contents of the perineal hernia to be a paraprostatic cyst. This case suggested that a paraprostatic cyst should be considered as a differential diagnosis of hernia contents.
