Abstract
The optimization of air and fuel mixture flow in the intake pipes of an internal combustion engine is one of the important keys for designers to get the fuel economy, the clean emission and more power. But there have been reported a few studies, and a quantitative guide has been needed for them.
In order to study the air supply system of an internal combustion engine, the following experiment was made. Using acryl pipes of straight and curved shapes, the mist deposition and flow were studied. Small droplets of water were found deposited on the wall of the pipes, and formed the film flow on it. Flow visualization and image processing thchniques were adopted to get quantitative results.
