PbO Thin films were prepared by evaporating powder of yellow PbO in vacuum. The evaporation was carried out in an ordinary evacuation unit by heating and flashing methods. Slide glasses and the cleavage faces of NaCl were used as substrates at various temperature. The structure of films were investigated by X-ray and electron diffraction analyses. The orthorhombic PbO was observed in film deposited at high substrate temperature and slow evaporation rate in high vacuum, while the tetragonal PbO was observed in case of low substrate temperature and fast evaporation rate in low vacuum. The optical and electrical properties of films were dependent on the crystal structure.
