Abstract
Hinoki(Japanese Cypress)timbers obtained from major growing districts of hinoki were kiln-dried under the schedule with short term or long term of maintaining at 120°C and were exposed to wood decaying fungi or termites in laboratory condition to investigate the effect of kiln drying against decay or termite durability of them. It is concluded that the kiln drying condition does not affect the decay and termite durability of hinoki heartwood even with long term of maintaining at 120°C from the comparison with durability of hinoki heartwood natural-dried.
