Abstract
For study of a simplified system of preservative treatment for grape props, field test of decay durability of wood was carried out to the pole size SUGI(Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) logs, HINOKI (Chamaecyparis obtusa Endl.) logs, and KARAMATU (Larix leptolepis Gordon) logs treated by the brushing or dipping of Creosote oil and by pressure process of Creosote oil, CCA or TBTP(Tri-n-Butyl Tin Phtalate). The results of field tests showed that it was very difficult to achieve the purpose without the pressure process.
Based on the hot-and-cold bath process which is simple to apply and provides high injection performance, a new type of grape prop was developed. It was found from this that the production of a grape prop whose performance is simillar to that of pressure process would be possible for SUGI and HINOKI with exclusion of KARAMATU.
