Effect of Microstructure and Oxide Inclusions on High Strength Weld Metal Toughness

Abstract

From the analyses of the microstructure of weld metal with tensile strength of 650MPa, it was found that FATT would depend on the size of intragranular bainite, while USE depend on the number density of inclusions. The compositions of inclusions were considered to be dominant to the bainite nucleation and the distribution of inclusions.
