Microstructures and mechanism of resistant microwelding of crossed fine TiNi wires

Abstract

As TiNi alloy with various characteristics is often used for medical devices, micro-scale resistance welding seems to be favorable. Therefore, micro-scale resistance welding was applied to crossed TiNi fine wires, and the microstructure and welding mechanism are examined. The wires were welded in solid state with initial transient liquid phase.
