Abstract
In the robotic one side thin plate welding process without of backing plate, for obtaining the good quality of the weld, it is important to control the weld pool shape and the cooling time so as to prevent the melting metal from burning through. In this paper authors propose the switch back welding method to control the weld pool. The numerical simulation and the experimental result have proved that the switch back welding method is effective and satisfactory for controlling the weld pool shape.
