Abstract
In TIG arcs, since the current in the arc plasma is originated mainly from thermionic emission on the high temperature cathode surface, it is significantly important to know the temperature of the cathode surface to realize required properties of the arc plasma. In this presentation, the experimental results on the measurement of the cathode surface temperature of helium TIG arcs are discussed.
