Abstract

Owing to the quarrelsome nature of cocks, it is quite cumbrous matter to keep a bunch of them together quietly after mating, separated from the breeders' coop, pending the result of progeny tests are to clearly be established.
In order to get rid of such a trouble, the author has designed a type of Blinker to attach to the forehead of cocks by cutting out the aluminium plate, with thickness of 0.5mm, in a shape shown in fig. 1, bending it as fig. 2 and put on the forehead of cocks with the wire running through the nostril as indicated in fig. 3. The shape of upper edge of central part of Blinkers, however, have to be suitably altered a little in accordance with the individual variations in the shape of cockscomb.
The cocks wearing the Blinker are allowed their normal actions in walking or picking the food freely, but they are unable to make a fight among each other, since the figure of rival is proportionately screened with the Blinker as they drop the head downward. Therefore, it would be sufficient to provide only a large coop for holding all of the cocks which was taken out, one after another from the breeders' coop and thus a lot of expense and labor can well be saved, as there is no need to prepare many separated small coops, as well as butteries, by adopting this method for the sake of improvement of the fowls.
