<Paper>Study of Structure of Set-up Operation and Methods to shorten it

Abstract

Shortening of set-up time is one of the most useful ways to realize Just-in-Time production system. However, methods of shortening of set-up time are established almost always by experimental study. In this paper, firstly, set-up operation's activity was defined and secondly the structure of set-up was showed clearly. After that the types of set-up operation were classified. As a result, in shortening set-up time, it has been understood that (1) the establishment of method to correct the order of priority of each improved places, (2) the concentration of effort to the improved place, and (3) shortening of working hours in each operation place. The diagrams necessary for shortening the set-up time were developed. And the actual examples showed that this study is effective.
