Macrothrix nukataensis Ojika, Tanaka & Makita n. sp., a new Cladoceran Crustacean (Macrothricidae, Macrothricinae) from Japan

Abstract

Macrothricids mostly live in the littoral zone, in the benthos, on aquatic plants or in littoral plankton, in fresh or brackish water bodies. A new species of Genus Macrothrix, Macrothrix nukataensis Ojika, Tanaka and Makita n. sp. was discovered in the Ameyama reservoir, Okazaki-shi, Nukata Ameyama-cho, Aichi Prefecture.
