Abstract
At the Sea of Japan side river mouth, frequent occurrence of water level rise caused by wave set-up during winter. From this reason, saline water intrusion is generated at the tidal area due to wave set-up. There is a possibility that saline water run up the upstream. Hence, river environment was received a great amount of influence from saline water intrusion. However, it was not understood in sufficient elucidation of the mechanism of the increase of tidal discharge by wave set-up. In this study, the tidal discharge caused by wave set-up is estimated from measured water level variation at the Koyoshi and Yoneshiro river mouths and river width change was investigated by photographic analysis at the river mouth
