Abstract
The analysis of shoreline changes on the eastern Enshu-nada coast extending between the Tenryu River mouth and Point Omaezaki was carried out using aerial photographs. The entire shoreline was separated into six subareas, and sand budget in each area was investigated. When comparing the change in longshore sand transport between 2008 and 2016, it was found that longshore sand transport has reduced over time. In the vicinity of Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant, the shoreline has locally retreated, and it was pointed out from this fact that the discharge of cooling water from the power plant at a rate of 255 m3/s is related to the shoreline recession along with the shoreline recession due to ground subsidence and loss of windblown sand.
