Abstract
When two sets of waves arrive from different directions, the sand spit is recurved. In the recurved spit, the previous shoreline often intersects at an acute angle with the overall extending direction of the sand spit. The formation of the recurved spit was explained in a qualitative manner by Zenkovich, and there are few studies on the prediction of the elongation of the recurved sand spit. In this study, the elongation of a recurved spit was predicted using the BG model which was developed for predicting the development of a cuspate foreland when waves were incident from two opposing directions.
