This study deals with the influence of deformation of wave dissipating works and accidental waves on wave pressure and force acting on caisson breakwater. The model profiles of deformed wave dissipating works are used in the experiments and the conditions of accidental waves are determined by using the results of wave prediction. Moreover, the effect of the reinforcing embankment on the stability of breakwater against sliding is estimated. When the deformation becomes large, the horizontal wave force increases substantially and the maximum wave force becomes about 5.6 times that of the initial profile. For the real breakwaters with reinforcing embankment, it is possible to keep the stability against the design wave even if a certain level of deformation occurs. However, the possibility that only a small amount of the deformation is permissible against the accidental waves is shown.
