Abstract

Salt effects of LiCl on vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) for mixfures of ethyl acetate + 1-propanol, ethanol + 1-propanol, and ethyl acetate + ethanol + 1-propanol were measured by using headspace gas chromatography (HSGC) at 313.15 K. Applying HSGC to measurement of VLE has the advantages of requiring; (1) short measurement time and (2) small sample volume. In the binary solvents + salt systems, measured data were correlated with a modified solvation model and an electrolyte NRTL equation. As a result, each model showed good correlative accuracy. In the ternary solvents + salt system, the measured data were compared with those predicted by a modified solvation model and electrolyte NRTL equation by using a parameter determined from binary solvents + salt system. The predicted data agreed well with observation.
