Abstract
Liquid viscosity, interfacial tension and partition equilibria are measured for LIX65N-Dispersol-water system at 25°C. Properties of the interfacial tension are discussed on the basis of Gibbs' adsorption isotherm. The concentration of adsorbate at the interface is found to remain constant when the bulk concentration of LIX65N in the organic phase is larger than 0.1%. Partition of LIX65N between Dispersal and aqueous phase is affected by the concentration of LIX65N, probably because of the formation of association species in the organic phase. Distribution equilibria of copper between the two phases agree well with theoretical prediction.
