Half a Century of International Tourism

Abstract

The author intends to analyse the tendency of international tourism in the last half a century by the method of input-output table. Now this approach is the well-known origindesination table which is an application of W.W. Leontief’s idea. The author is proud of himself to be the first researcher who had used this idea in the field of tourism science. From 1933 to ‘81 the number of foreign travellers, especially of long distance travellers has remarkably increased. The prolongaion of travel distance is explained by the consumption indifference curves and the consumption possibility lines.
