This paper deals with the following two items relating to the vibrations of marine propeller shafting. 1) From the viewpoint of input of the vibrations, we calculated the propeller-exciting vibratory inputs for some tankers using the model wake distribution of T-2 tanker, and made clear the relation of the moment due to thrust to the overhang moment due to the propeller and the propeller-shaft overhang part. 2) From the viewpoint of output of the vibrations, we carried out some basic experiments on the dynamic characteristics of propeller mounted on a vibrating shaft, and arranged the results in a conventional form for the actual application.
