Abstract

Because of the lower Young's modulus of fiber-reinforced plastics (F.R.P.), it seems necessary to pay various considerations to cope with such property for designers to apply this material as the strength members of structures. For the purpose of obtaining basic data in this regard, the author has executed some experiments as follows ; (1) Bending tests of stiffeners with various types of connections, (2) Hydraulic pressure tests of stiffened panels. In the former tests, the condition of destruction of connecting part was examined on a total of eight kinds of models, while, in the latter, hydraulic pressure tests were carried out on eight kinds of stiffened panels of 1,500mm×1,500mm.
