Abstract

Two powerful tugs have been built for use at the newly constructed giant dockyard located in Sakaide, Shikoku. Considerng various requirements as a dockyard tug, a Voith-Schneider propeller and a controllable pitch propeller are adopted as propelling systems, respectively. Report is made on several items on initial planning, Kort nozzle, and ship's body lines which improved astern pull power, and finally, results of bollard pull tests of these tugs.
