Strength of Container Ship (Part 2) : On Effectiveness of Deck between Hatches of 3 Row Hatch Ship

Abstract

Concerning longitudinal strength of container ship, the effectiveness of deck between hatches has been studied and an analytical solution derived for container ship which has 3 row hatches at midship part. Some model experiments has been carried out using a box type model and compared with the calculation. They showed good agreement. So, an actual ship built in our factory has been analysed by the method and the result was checked by the finite element solution and also by test results at launching. Good agreement were confirmed among them.
