Abstract

Mass Production System has been considered impossible to be adopted in the field of shipbuilding industry. The authors, at the stages of Hull Assembly and Subassembly, have adopted "Tact System" as a production system, and as a management system. They have also introduced a new system which is composed of "Grouping of Materials" and "Standardizing of Production Schedule." As the result of their efforts to combine the above production and management systems, they could get satisfactory efficiency in the process of constructon of large sized oil tankers.
