A Calculation of Optimum Ship Route Using Theoretical Limit Speed in Waves (2nd Report) : Simulatlon of Navigation in the North Pacfic in Winter

Abstract

Simulation of navigation in the North Pacific in winter is made using a calculation method of optimum ship route which is based on Pontryagin's maximum principle. The result is compared with the experiences of the high speed single screw container ships in PSW (Pacific South West) route. It is shown that the calculation simulates well the experiences of the ships.
