Abstract

The catamaran ship has twin hulls and a connecting deck. Stiffness of the connecting deck is generally very small compared with that of each hull. Therefore, to analyze motion of ocean-going catamaran ship in oblique waves, effect of elastic deformation of the deck can not be neglected. In this paper, considering forces acting in the deck induced by relative motions of the twin hulls, the motion of each hull in oblique waves was analyzed. And effect of stiffness of the deck on ship motions of the twin hulls and wave loads in the deck due to these motions were investigated.
