Abstract

This paper is concerned with probabilistic analysis of ultimate strength for jacket-type offshore platforms due to extreme wave induced loads. Morison's formula and finite amplitude wave theory are applied to probabilistic modeling of the loads together with the first-order-second-moment method. Probabilistic collapse analysis is performed by taking into account of the combined effect of the bendig moment and axial force and by systematically generating stochastically dominant failure modes. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.
