When the period of grouped waves lies in the vicinity of the natural frequency of a moored body, it can be expected to occur large slow drift oscillations of the body. In this paper, the wave groupiness and its effect on the slow drift oscillations of a moored body are discussed. Several wave generation techniques which allow to control of the formation of grouped waves in the experimental tank are investigated and the slow drift oscillations of a moored body are measured in those waves. It seems through this study that the wave groupiness is to be taken into account for determining the maximum values of the slow drift oscillations of a moored body.
