An Experiment on a Reversible Volute Pump

Abstract

An experiment is carried out on the characteristics of a reversible volute pump. The pump is possible to discharge to one definite side independently of rotating direction of impeller. The capacity, total head, and number of revolution of the test pump are respectively 15 (m^3)/h, 12.5m and 1,320rpm. The results of experiment are shown on Tables 1 and 2. It is shown that if it is allowed to lower a little the efficiency at normal running, we can expect pretty capacity at reverse running.
