On Maneuvering Characteristics of Geared Diesel Ship with Electric Slip Couplings

Abstract

The first geared diesel ship with electric slip couplings in Japan was Completed in May 1956 at Kawasaki Dockyard Co., Ltd. We have performed the maneuvering chararacteristic tests and have investigated the results of navigation on the ships of this type. In this paper, the author explains the maneuvering characteristics of the geared diesel ship with electric slip couplings based on these investigation and results of trials.
