Abstract
A 25-year-old woman with bilateral leg edema and abnormal liver function test consulted to our department. Ultrasonography showed a solid lesion measuring 9 cm in the left lobe of the liver. The tumor produced the IVC stenosis and induced collateral circulation in the liver reflecting a blood flow abnormality suggestive of Budd-Chiari syndrome. Tumor was diagnosed as focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) according to various images and the patient underwent left lobectomy and caudatectomy. Pathologic examination confirmed a diagnosis of FNH, postoperatively IVC blood flow improved, as did liver function values. Here we report a rare case of Budd-Chiari-like blood flow abnormality due to the IVC stenosis by a large focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver.
