Abstract

A 55-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with abdominal discomfort and liver injury. Laboratory evaluation showed liver injury with marked elevation of tumor markers. Computed tomographic scan showed liver swelling and diffuse uneven pattern in whole liver. Ascites was not detected. 2.5 cm right breast cancer was confirmed by needle biopsy species with axillary lymph node metastasis. She was diagnosis as having hepatic metastasis of breast cancer with the diffuse type. Since HER2 expression was positive in biopsy species, we treated with Trastuzumab, which is a monoclonal antibody for HER2. However, reserved function of the liver gradually worsened with the appearance of ascites in the 20th day of illness and hepatic coma in the 40th day of illness, and she was died of subacute type of liver failure in the 49th day of illness. The autopsy findings of the liver proved the diffuse type of metastasis of the breast cancer.
