Abstract
A significant rise in serum γ-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GTP) was observed in 75% of epileptic patients without clinical evidence of liver disease. γ-GTP elevation was closely related to multiple anticonvulsant drugs therapy. The possibility that serum γ-GTP elevation could result from release of anticonvulsant drugs-induced hepatic γ-GTP but not from concomitant liver damage due to these drugs is discussed.
