Abstract
Indocyanine green (ICG) aqous solution showed the very low degree of dissociation at room temperature and the characteristic bands of infra-red spectra due to the coordinated water molecules were observed in the region of 650 to 420 cm-1.Low activation energies of reactions of ICG with serum proteins or hepatic cytoplasmic proteins were calculated from the plot of Log I, vs l/T. Kinetics of removal of ICG from the blood indicated that the removal of this dye from the blood in rat obeyed Michaelis-Menten kinetics.
It was suggested from these results that the absorption at 710mμ and 780 mμ was due to coordinated ICG with water molecules, the chemical bonding type between ICG and serum proteins or hepatic cytoplasmic proteins could be considered as a sort of coordinated bond and ICG molecules passed through the hepatic plasma membrane by means of a carriermediated transport mechanism.
